tried to compile a
list of common questions that we get about the FlexScan3D
Products. If you have specific questions not answered by the
FAQ's,

How
large an object can I scan? Using a 10mm calibration pattern you can scan objects as small as 3 inches and as large as 12 inches, the scanning window is 320mm. Using a 20mm calibration pattern you get a 640mm scanning window, which means you can scan objects that fit within that window. You can scan large objects using either grid pattern and stitch the scans into a full 260 degree model.
How
long does it
take to scan? A single scan completes in less than 30 seconds. The
time
required to scan a full object depends on the size of the object and
the number of scans required for that object. Scanning using a video camera can be a fast as 3-5 seconds. Video camera support will be announced at a later date. How

you support
non-SLR cameras? Yes. Users who do not have an SLR camera, can use a digital point-and-shoot camera to do scanning. The difference will be that the photos will have to be taken manually and then manually copied to the appropriate scan folder. Each scan uses 17 photos plus 1 photo for use as texture.
What
projectors
are supported?
Does
it produce a
360 model? Currently, FlexScan3D is bundled with GSI Mesh Studio or Leios Mesh to enable users to quickly align, merge, triangulate and optimize scan data to create a watertight mesh.

Back to top Whats the distance between the scanner and object? The projector distance to the object will depend on your projector specifications and can vary from 1 foot to 4 feet. The camera distance to the object can vary depending on your lens, and can be as close as 7 inches to several yards.How do I scan shiny or translucent objects? Most shiny or translucent objects will create
noise (bounceback) in your scans. It is best to coat an object
with a white spray or coating. Many users use welders crack spray
(Magnaflux) and others use Dr. Scholl's Foot Powder Spray No. We currently do not support Mac OS or have plans to support it.
You can pay with a credit card. We process secured payments through Google Checkout or Paypal for our transactions.
What are your shipping options? Current purchases of FlexScan3D and associated
products are electronically shipped. After confirmation of your
purchase and processing of your payment, you will receive a link where
you can download any of our products. Currently bundled solutions
are shipped directly from Canada.
